The case for black oxide coating of auto parts is compelling – especially for interior components.

Black oxide coatings become part of the surface of the metal and therefore add no weight to the part.   

Also, black oxide coatings are flexible. On seat frames, for example, black oxide coatings can be applied before bending. It will not crack of peel like powder coating during the bending process.
