Black Oxide is a chemical surface conversion of metals forming an integral protective surface, while maintaining the dimensional integrity of the part. Along with a post treatment, corrosion resistance of 72 to 144 salt spray hours is possible.

Unique Applications

   Mild Steel Application

Black Oxide on Mild Steel can range from small fasteners weighing less than an ounce to machine table tops weighing 3,000 LBS each. Parts are processed in barrels, baskets or on fixtures and racks. Our production capacity allows us to meet your most urgent turn around needs.

 Die Cast Zinc Application

Black Oxide provides uniform color with corrosion resistance at an economical cost.

As the use of die cast zinc components grows, many are finding applications where both appearance and corrosion resistance are critical. While organic coatings, (paint) and plating offer solutions to these problems, the cost especially for smaller components requiring extensive handling is substantially greater than that of conversion coatings such as black oxide.

Cleveland Black Oxide has perfected the process for black oxide treatment of die cast zinc parts that produce a consistently dense black finish which adds both aesthetic quality and increased resistance to surface pitting and corrosion.
